Usher Tinkler Wines

97 McDonalds Rd, Pokolbin NSW 2320

Usher Tinkler is one of Australia's most dynamic young winemakers. Along with his grandfather and father, he is apart of three generations of farming expertise; the dairyman, the cattleman and the winemaker.

They all share the same name and united passion for the land. As a tribute to this, Usher Tinkler Wines was born. Usher and wife Ebony bought and renovated the original Pokolbin Church, that was built in 1905, to create a place to showcase their new brand. Shifting a gear in the Hunter Valley the wines are authentic yet adventurous. Blurring the lines between traditional and contemporary wine making.

The Cellar Door has an energetic and sociable environment to enjoy the wines. Whilst Usher's wines are avant-garde he still only uses grapes from his own family estate in Pokolbin and believes in a 100 per cent Hunter Valley production, paying homage to his rich heritage.

You can choose from a selection of salami and cheese to heighten the tasting experience. To avoid disappointment, it is recommended groups of six or more people make a booking.

We stopped off here whilst on an overnight visit to the Hunter Valley and we weren't disappointed.

We were made to feel so welcome and we're fitted in, despite not having made a reservation. The staff had exceptional product knowledge and you really felt their passion for their product. We bought a couple of bottles of the Enneagram which was out of this world! I only wish I could buy it back home in Thailand, but maybe my liver will be grateful I can't!

Would definitely recommend a visit here if you're in the area.

We had a fabulous stop here on our winery day. Thanks to Reece for fitting us in with no booking on a very busy Mother's Day. The tasting was relaxed and they accommodated our motley crew very well.
Love the atmosphere. We will be back one day with booking so we can try the offerings in that amazing looking Salumi.

Had great experiences here in the past which is why our recent visit was so disappointing.
The building and view are still idyllic, but it just seems the staff are not geared for a tourist destination. We were met by a scruffy guy, who wasn't particularly welcoming in looking for our booking.
Maybe I read that wrong. Oh no, he then proceeds to do our wine tasting with a monotone drone with absolutely no charisma.
Sounds mean, but I just don't think this is his calling!

And the platter is massively overpriced for what it is. I would do some research and look for a smaller winery. Usher has lost its charm!
Also they had 'natural' wines on the tasting......Jesus it was like scrumpy cider!

Very friendly and attentive service, thanks Mitchell! We were very impressed with everything at Usher Tinkler. Meat and cheese board is a must. Will definitely be back.

Great wine, great food, great vibe and music. We were recommended Usher Tinkler by a friend and so glad we came. We only wish we did it last on our tour not first so we could spend longer there. Will definitely be back
