First Creek Wines is a family owned and operated winery based in the Hunter Valley, Australia's oldest wine producing region. The talented family of winemakers comprises of Liz, Shaun and Greg Silkman whose emphasis on careful fruit selection and rigorous attention to detail produce a range of wines that appeal to both critics and consumers alike.

Since First Creek Wines opened its doors in 2001, it has become one of Australia's most acclaimed wine brands. James Halliday has consistently awarded First Creek five stars in his renowned Wine Companion, and in 2014 granted the winery a coveted five red star rating which it has maintained every year since.

Chief Winemaker, Liz Silkman, was crowned Hunter Valley Winemaker of the Year in 2016 and 2011. She has also collected an impressive 16 Trophies and 41 Gold Medals on the national wine show circuit since 2015.

As well as Hunter Valley classics Semillon, Chardonnay and Shiraz, they also source a selection of alternative varieties such as Vermentino, Pinot Gris, Sangiovese and Tempranillo.

My wife and I sat down on the balcony and had an exceptional time here. The female staff member who looked after us was extremely knowledgeable and lovely. We tasted 6-7 wines and had a cheeseboard, which I highly recommend. It doesn't compete with some of the views at the other wineries, but the wines certainly make up for it.

Rhys rocked our world! His knowledge and passion about wine transformed our views of how one should enjoy wine. He went into detail what goes about making wine and made sure to show his appreciation! Loved every moment! Thanks again Rhys!

This is a winery that should be included on your Hunter Valley itinerary. Nice relaxing surroundings, and our wine guide Michael was friendly and informative. The wines themselves were of high quality and reasonably priced. There is an excellent 2019 Shiraz (the grapes are actually from the Hunter Valley) for $25. Highly recommended.

The guy who attended to us was very love, knowledgeable and willing to impart his passion and knowledge on wine to us. He patiently took his time to explain the different types and ranges of wines. Our entire family of 6 enjoyed the whole wine tasting experience. We also had some good wine and brought some home too. The cheese platter was sufficient for all of us and is very nice - from Binorie. Highly recommend this place and will come back again in the future.
