The Agrestic Grocer

The Agrestic Grocer

426 Mitchell Hwy, Orange NSW 2800

Housed in a semi-industrial, semi-agricultural straw-bale/brick building and wearing its locavore ideology proudly on its sleeve, The Agrestic Grocer provides a unique shopping and dining experience.

Local fresh produce and value-added product adorn the shelves along with a great selection of local wine. Badlands Brewery, The Second Mouse Cheese Co and Pig in The House wines utilise Agrestic as their cellar door and main retail outlet. Tastings, meals and drinks feature their amazing produce alongside a selection of the regions best.

Weekends come to life with live music in the courtyard. Standards are high, as is demand for tables, so it's a must to book. Live music weaves its way around the week starting with the iconic Ruby Tuesday Classic Album Night. International and Aussie touring artists choose Agrestic as their first port of call west of the mountains.

Whether it's to pick up some heirloom produce, have a custom hamper made or just hang out in a unique cafe with the company of passionate hosts, The Agrestic Grocer has it covered.

Dinner available during live music events.

They don't have anything vegan on their breakfast menu but were able to adjust their avo on toast to remove the non vegan options and add house made vegan bacon, roasted tomatoes and macadamia ricotta. Delicious! Would be good to have an actual vegan option on the breakfast menu though :)

Pleasant and friendly environment. Great coffee and toasted cheese and ham croissants. Kids loved the hot chocolate drinks.
Ample parking on site.
Great wine choices for those looking to service their hydraulic system.
Will be back.

The place was suggested by our host in orange and though when you are traveling to it it doesn't seem much and you stop at a shed just off the Mitchell highway wondering what's the hype about.. but as soon as you enter the place you know it's got that local wonder happening all around . As the name went I opted for a vegan option and my partner ordered the day's pie and both were lovely but the veganator with the vegan bacon and the maple candied crumb is something I could travel three hours for.. it's out of this world and absolutely a must try.. who knew vegan could be so delicious!!
You can also try the local beer and array of local gin and wines and do a a bit of local shopping as well while in there. Also while you walk out you could pick up gifts for your mates back home..

Called in for a look at the shop and a coffee in the morning. A sign at the cafe door said wait to be seated, there only looked to be a few other customers and staff saw us standing there, but no one came near us or acknowledged our presence. After several minutes standing there we just left, clearly didn't want our business. Very disappointing.

Finally! A cafe that doesn't bring your coffee 20mins before your food - enabling you to enjoy your coffee WITH your meal. Friendly, prompt service with plenty of staff. Managed to fit us in on Mothers Day without a booking. Fantastic place - will be back for sure.
