Vinifera Wines

Vinifera Wines

194 Henry Lawson Dr, Mudgee NSW 2850

Established in 1994, Vinifera planted some of the first Tempranillo vines in Australia along with Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Semillon. Over the years the vineyard has continued to mature beautifully producing limited vintages including other striking Spanish reds.

Owners and family team Tony, Debbie and Sam believe less is more in their approach to wine growing and making and are proudly certified organic and members of Sustainable Winegrowing Australia.

Nestled amongst the grapevines and next to the family home lies the Vinifera cellar door. The doors first opened in 2000 and has since played host to many memories, toasts and excellent drops.

Vinifera is also the home of Mudgee Gourmet, an extensive gourmet pantry of local produce from olive oils to relish, jams, chocolates and more.

Visit Vinifera to share in their joy of wine and local produce in the cellar door whilst soaking in the sweeping views across the vineyard to the hills beyond.

Online bookings encouraged for all wine tasting experiences.

We were excited to go to Vinifera - my sister and I had been previously so wanted to take our parents and partners there; however, a staff member was quite rude to our wine tour guide in front of us about moving tables (we moved as the bench was wet and there was dog poo). When our tour guide explained why we moved the staff member said that wherever we would sit we would smell the septic tank anyway. Not a pleasant start.
We had 6 premium tastings for $15 each and were quite disappointed with the amount of wine we were poured (compared to the other wineries we visited and also only paid $5 for the tasting). The experience just wasn't personal as no one explained to us about the wines we were trying - just told "the explanation is on the placement". Unsure if the overall experience was disappointing because the staff member "taking care of us" was rude / didn't have the care or passion like others we'd come across or Vinifera now just want to get guests in and out as it was quite busy.
We didn't want to purchase any wines after the experience unfortunately as it was unpleasant - shame as we were very much looking forward to returning!

Had a lovely self guided tasting, in a beautiful setting. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable. The grazing platters were very generous and excellent value. We look forward to enjoying the wines we purchased and would definitely visit again when in Mudgee.
