Ninth-generation winemaker Dominique Portet chose the cool climate of aptly named Coldstream in the Yarra Valley as home to the eponymous winery he founded in 2000. It was the culmination of a tenacious search for grape growing terroir to rival that of his native Bordeaux - but also the start of a new chapter in a winemaking story that has its roots in France in the early 1700s.

Now son Ben - generation 10 - heads the winemaking team, firmly observing the central tenets of this young yet historic estate: respect for tradition, understanding of site and an open mind towards contemporary practices that shape wines that are ever more refined and delicious.

Amazing experience, we opted for the private tasting and tour. Really enjoyed seeing behind the scenes and the wines were delicious. Make sure you sample the Andre, absolutely delicious. We took a few home, and you will too.

Absolutely perfect, literally.
The views, the venue, the service - all of it.
Food is like in the very very good French eatery.
Very reasonably priced.
Venue is clean and comfortable for any sitting preferences.
Service - one word - unobtrusively warm. Attentive.
Highly recommended.

Our first stop on a girls day around the valley and by far our highlight of the day! Jason was wonderful running our tasting, even putting up with all our difficult questions about the wine making process 😂 Thanks for a great time, we'll definitely be back and looking forward to enjoying our purchases once we can look at wine again (might take a few days/weeks). Thank you thank you 🙏

The wine tasting person assaulted one of my staff members by hitting her on the back of the head. And then touched another female staff member on the head. Absolutely inappropriate. Why would a staff member hit a female on the back of the head? After we told him off his response was sorry that's how I would treat my children. Spoke to management and it was not adequately handled. All we were told is that the situation would be handled after service. This abhorrent situation needed to be dealt with immediately. Not "after service". My staff member had been assaulted. Take action immediately.
